Today, Fellow journalist JVTA reiterated the current results of a poll cast to see how many of Realmplex's users want to hold another election for moderator. As expected, the majority of voters were in favor of another election. Between the dissatisfaction of some members towards the current administration, and the several newer candidates looking to jump into the race, it only makes sense that many people are still eager for another election. However, Six people voted against having another election.

You may ask, why does this matter? After all, the vote was still overwhelmingly positive. So what if a few people decided to be statistical outliers? I believe it to be representative of a deeply concerning trend among many players on the server: Complacency. Though it's been six months since the third great war, It wouldn't be a stretch to say that many players are burnt out when it comes to conflict. Oftentimes its a stressful, unrewarding experience. Simultaneously, however, it seems as though the server never has anything better to do. Its reached the point where factions built entirely on waiting for wars to happen have become prevalent enough to take center stage on multiple occasions. I believe it has to do with the idea that many players simply don't care any more. The casual players are either tired or busy, and anybody with so little of a life that they play this game on a more than casual basis seems to be tucking their tail between their legs and giving up.
Nowhere is this sentiment better expressed than in the states composing the URA. Between Potato, Jonasland, Carrot, and their constituent puppet states, the trend becomes much more apparent. Most, if not all, of the people against holding another election are in positions of power aligned with the URA. As sentiments towards the older factions continues to sour I believe that we'll see a split happen among them. There will be those who leave or attempt to reform the Minecraft equivalent of Ancient Rome circa the 5th century, and there will be those who insist that everything is fine, and that nothing needs to change. We are already starting to see that split happen, and unfortunately it seems that those in power don't want things to change. Taylor himself voted against a new election, as did Jonas. At one point Rory too voted against it, though he has since rescinded his decision and has not voted either way.
What this tells me is that not only are those in power scared to potentially relinquish it, but that this sentiment extends to the idea of moderation as well. I only make a big deal out of this because I worry that there may be a time, not too far in the future, where that poll simply stops happening. When apathy starts to rise, democracy and freedom die. Rory has been the only moderator to date to serve two terms, moreover the only moderator who seems perfectly content to continue serving despite the immense dissatisfaction that people have with him.
