The Following interview was conducted by Pebble on the 9th of June, 2025. WNN does not endorse nor promote any sentiments held by our interviewees, but is committed to providing unfiltered, accurate journalism. All information is accurate as of June 9th, 2025.

Today, Pebble sits down to have a one-on-one conversation with the (in)famous BasilGaming. For nearly 3 years, Basil has been a major player on Realmplex's geopolitical stage, Currently ruling the Ataraxy. In the past, he's ruled over Westforge, formed the CJMG, Played an integral role in multiple conflicts, and has been both a citizen of Carrot and Wheat. You will get an exclusive, introspective look at Basil before his inevitable return.

P: With your unbanning rapidly approaching, I feel it's best to start with a reflection. Have you had any revelations or new ideas during your sentence?

B: In regards to Ideas- yes; quite a few in fact, however my philosophy (which is essentially regarded as polemic) has remained entirely the same. There hasn’t been anything to change my train of thought or disposition- in fact recent events have served to better support and promote the narratives I formerly held.

P: Do you speak on behalf of the factions that you’re a part of, or are you strictly representing yourself?

B: I suppose I have to, or rather- I commentate on certain situations regardless of how it represents the nations I am affiliated with. The Ataraxy- for example, is an organization that is larger than myself as a player, and yet I am a major player in its international affairs and ‘political’ stance. Whether or not my peers agree with my view 100% of the time is a different matter- I believe there’s always room for collaboration between mutuals despite differing motives.

P: Would you be willing to give your opinions on a few issues specific to wheat?

B: Ofc, I’d be happy to.

P: What do you have to say about the Carrot occupation of the southern wheat island; or the naval presence in the northern gulf?

B: In all honestly I view Carrot’s claims to the southern Wheat island as illegitimate and nothing more than “vanity”, the truth is that the territory is thousands of blocks away from the carrot mainland- and is (functionally) uninhabited. I (would) advocate for the immediate cessation of carrots claims to the area- if there were a larger discussion around the topic at hand…

(Debate about the legitimacy Carrot's occupation coming soon)

P: This sentiment leads me to my second question about wheat. Do you support the graduation of Wheat into an Empire? Why or why not? Since, it is also claiming a piece of land thousands of blocks away from the mainland, with very little utilization.

B: Well, i guess I'd say I support Wheat's (RIGHT) to commit to such a future endeavor,

no outside force should be able to dissuade you from doing so- especially in regards to the Vlastograd territory, which if I'm correct was entirely uninhabited prior to the Wheat settlement. I believe this to be different in Carrot's case, they knowingly retained Wheat territory which originally belonged to the empire. This ties back into my primary criticism of the western superstates on the server, namely Carrot and Potato- In the way they control far too much land, and possess far too much political power on the server- even AFTER the 3rd GRPW. Even worse is the fact they achieved this by (basically) annexing formerly independent nations, (Ravine town... Wench, Southern Wheat, Ark,) its functionally the same no matter where you go on the main continent. P: Eloquently said- I thought I got you with that one for a moment.

B: lol, perhaps a lmao even-

P: Bringing it back to the bigger picture, In the past, you’ve been a server moderator. Is there any chance that you’ll run again during the next election?

B: Probably not... and while it is a position i enjoyed holding for the most part- i feel my reputation was too badly damaged by the current administration for me to consider that a possibility. I feel i did introduce satisfactory changes during my tenure, but as that period was marked by steadfast peace, there weren't too many "hard decisions" I had to make, which amounted to my tenure being (essentially) a nothing-burger.

P: What do you have to say about Potato’s “Post-War Revival?”

B: Well, I'd say it mustn't have been too much of a spectacle, otherwise I'd of heard of it before. LOL

P: On the topic of Potato, Taylor has previously expressed a desire to expand the URA into a UN-esque alliance. Would you ever consider becoming a part of it? Why or why not?

B: Ah, that's an interesting point to bring up. i suppose YES, so long as that "expansion" detailed the total demilitarization of the URA and its total shift into a- (as you put it) global UN coalition. I believe such an organization could do wonders for the server if it took up a position similar to the RBU and actually worked to build things- and cooperate with everyone. However such a change would be a radical move to pull off, and would complicate so many aspects of western security. I doubt they would go through with it.

P: Do you have any big plans for the future that you can disclose to the public?

B: Well, one thing I look forward to quite a bit is getting back to doing QOL builds in the ataraxy, there’s a ton of stuff I want to finish over there, and as it stands right now I feel the ataraxy is a bit empty- If that sounds like something anyone reading this would like to assist in, (particularly in regards to resource donation) we (Ataraxy members) would appreciate it, and you’d get the build dedicated in your name for the contribution-

P: Alright! Now, before we wrap things up, do you have any final words for our viewers at home?

B: Well, I guess expect to see me around more in 10 days or so.
